The core of blinx's operation is based on an end-to-end NDI/Dante audio and video chain. The 4K system was designed and implemented through the partnership between blinx and Ideal Systems teams who worked closely with a number of leading and innovative media technology manufacturers to create the state-of-the-art Media Creation Hub solution.

PROPNEX SINGAPORE - 4K, NDI STUDIO AND PRODUCTION FACILITY

We fully utilized NDI®5 and the Virtual Studio application within the TriCaster® Mini 4K to dramatically reduce the complexity of the solution architecture to allow for technically complex productions such as featuring multiple video calls with differing resolutions from platforms like Zoom® and Microsoft® Teams in live interviews on the hard-set or in Virtual Space using the Chroma set. For the PropNex studios, we pushed the boundaries of what is possible in native NDI® systems, to the extent that there is zero legacy SDI equipment or cabling used in the entire facility. The Solution includes NDI® native teleprompter and NDI® native studio monitors from Telescript.

CNBC BROADCAST FACILITY IN SINGAPORE AND LONDON

The multifaceted project included the design and build of new NDI enabled Multi-Media Studios in Singapore and London that can create content for social media platforms and also be used for live broadcast as well as disaster recovery.  

Kaplan Higher Education Institute - NDI® based 4K enabled video production studios

Ideal Systems has built professional production studios in Singapore for Kaplan Higher Education Institute. The new Kaplan Media Production Suite (KMPS) consists of two state-of-the-art NDI® based 4K enabled video production studios to support Kaplan’s home-based learning programmes for its students from Singapore and over 35 countries and regions.

SUKE TV - NDI ENABLED TV STUDIO FOR SHOPPING CHANNEL IN MALAYSIA

The SUKE TV studio uses the latest NDI infrastructure and NDI cameras feeding back to a Tricaster TC1 from NewTek for switching, recording and running the virtual studio and the latest Kslim LED video wall from Unilumin which is 4mX2.5m. Ideal have deployed Xplayout for playout, Xingest for Ingest and YouPlay for studio playout all from Axel Technology and also uses Aximmetry virtual studio and 3D graphics that has an option to run unreal engine which is also NDI enabled.

iFast - 1,400 SQFT, MULTI SET, 4K, NDI STUDIO AND PRODUCTION FACILITY

For the iFAST TV studio we based the whole video production architecture on NDI® infrastructure and used a NewTek™ TriCaster® 2 Elite as the heart of the production system. The system supports end-to-end 4K over IP from the cameras through production and live streamed securely up to 4K to iFAST’s viewers.

FAS - Multi-Camera Football Live Broadcasting System with NDI

We based the entire video production architecture on next-generation NDI® infrastructure for the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) solution, which allowed FAS to deliver professional live sports production at a fraction of the cost of traditional SDI-based systems. Leveraging NDI technology and its associated cost savings allows Asian sports bodies such as FAS to afford to do next-generation Football TV production in-house using their own systems from the camera, through production and live-streamed to the viewer while maintaining total control of their content.

Singapore Expo - Hybrid Live Virtual Event based on NDI technology

Ideal Systems Singapore built a video system based on NDI technology and TriCaster 2 Elite. With its Live Call Connect feature, TriCaster 2 Elite seamlessly integrated video callers on Zoom, Skype TX, and Microsoft Teams with live panellists into a seamless hybrid production.

KINGDOMCITY Church - NDI Infrastructure

Ideal Systems has provided Kingdomcity with NDI infrastructure that connects their main hubs in real time in Malaysia, Singapore and Australia.

The solution from Ideal enables Kingdomcity to link services live between campuses over the public internet. Although travel has become more restricted, messages can still be preached live across campuses with high quality yet low latency video feeds. Furthermore, this solution has enabled remote production where operators can collaborate from different campuses. For live events, their director from Singapore is now able to monitor feeds from Australia to direct and switch camera sources live.

Go Explorer Ship - NDI Video Distribution

Ideal Systems designed and installed a brand-new NDI based Video Distribution Solution for real-time video feed selection of live video streams from multiple sub-sea Remote Operated Vehicles (ROV’s) on the maritime support vessel Go Explorer while docked in Singapore.

CCTV News - Sienna NDI Infrastructure

Ideal Systems provides Sienna Cloud NDI solution for CCTV News in China. 

The new NDI Cloud system has the capacity to encode, route and deliver over 300 simultaneous NDI video streams. What is NDI?

NDI stands for Network Device Interface and is an open protocol for streaming high quality, low latency video over IP networks such as a LAN or WAN. NDI is a rapidly evolving industry standard for connecting professional audio and video equipment and systems together for video production, video conferencing and video transport.

What are the benefits of NDI?

One of the biggest advantages of NDI is it uses everyday computer network architecture (LAN or WAN), cable and switches instead of legacy SDI cables and expensive broadcast equipment.

1)     Using NDI turns a standard Ethernet-based LAN into a video network

Using a Gigabit LAN, you can connect your cameras, screens, control rooms, and your production facilities, and create a site-wide video ecosystem where everything sees everything—and any source can be used by anyone. Using NDI reduces the volume of because NDI uses standard IP networks, no SDI cables or connectors are required just standard network cables and connectors and ethernet switches. 

2)     NDI links every device visible on the network

Network Device Interface technology makes every enabled device, connected source, and video signal on your network—camera, production switcher, replay system, computer, graphics machine, video conferencing system, etc.—visible and available as a source and/or destination for video over IP. Every new NDI source/device that is connected is Self-advertised via mDNS/Bonjour on the LAN

3)     NDI enables bi-directional video and audio over IP

Emerging IP workflows marginalize gains by simply replacing SDI cabling with Ethernet infrastructures. Many methods comprise linear, one-way, point-to-point distribution of a single video output signal over IP to a single destination. NDI workflows permits multi-directional, two-way signal transmission over IP, to and/or from any NDI®-enabled device on your network.

4)     NDI handles up to 10x more video than alternate video transport methods

Transporting HD video over IP typically requires high-bandwidth, dual-10Gbit networking to accommodate just a few source. With NDI’s IP Workflows, it’s entirely possible to access double-digit HD video streams over IP using just a Gigabit. With NDI’s high-end performance over standard GigE networks, it makes it possible to transition facilities to an incredibly versatile IP video production pipeline without negating existing investments in SDI cameras and infrastructure, or costly new high-speed network infrastructures.

5)     There are 2 types of NDI

NDI | HX which is H.264 compressed for lower datarates and is built into lots of different makes of PTZ cameras. Then there is broadcast quality full NDI with lower latency and higher datarates as well as 4K support.

6)     Lossless standard

NDI is generationally lossless meaning that loss only occurs in the first generation of video and all subsequent re-compression steps in the NDI system are lossless.

7)     Format Agnostic

The same NDI network can be used for SD, HD, 4K or above. Once your IP network has been designed with sufficient bandwidth, any format can be used.

8)     Compression

NDI uses video compression to enable transmission of video streams in the network. NDI achieves significantly better compression than the majority of codecs that have been accepted for professional broadcast use. NDI compresses the video streams so that the NDI video streams are distributed through the network at a ratio 15:1 to an uncompressed video of the same format. The following is an estimate of bandwidth load per NDI video stream for common delivery formats;

1 x stream SD video = 20 Mbps

1 x stream HD video = 125Mbps

1 x stream 4K  UHDp30 video = 200Mbps

1 x stream 4K  UHDp60 video = 250Mbps
