Ideal Systems Successfully RELOCATES SONY PICTURES TELEVISION (SPTL) Singapore Broadcast Facility to Culver Max Entertainment Brand New Next-Generation Broadcast Hub in Mumbai Designed By Ideal Systems.
Ideal Systems is proud to announce their successful relocation of SPTL’s Singapore broadcast facility to a cutting-edge, next-generation hub in Mumbai, India. This ambitious project involved not only the seamless migration of a live 24/7 broadcast operation but also the design and construction of a future-ready infrastructure tailored to Sony’s evolving needs in the digital era.
Under the leadership of Han van 't Zand, Project Director at Ideal Systems, the transition was executed with zero disruption to Sony’s 24x7 continuous broadcast and streaming operations, an achievement made possible through meticulous planning, advanced system integration, and expert execution.
At the heart of this transformation is a new state-of-the-art Master Control Room in Mumbai designed by Ideal Systems and engineered for maximum efficiency and flexibility in managing broadcast workflows. Supporting Sony’s dynamic live sports channels are dedicated Live Pods, designed to enhance real-time content delivery and production capabilities.
A key innovation in the facility is the deployment of fully redundant Computer Equipment Rooms (CERs), ensuring uninterrupted service and long-term scalability. These CERs power a robust playout infrastructure featuring:
Imagine’s ADC automation for seamless linear playout
Grass Valley routing, multi-viewers, and broadcast glue for top-tier signal management
GB Labs intelligent storage to optimize data accessibility
A 3-petabyte deep archive, leveraging DAC’s Alto and AWS Glacier for future-proof media storage
Skyline’s NMS “Dataminer”, delivering real-time monitoring and operational intelligence
The project was honored with the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Award 2025 in the category of Multi-Channel Playout System – India, recognizing its excellence in innovation and execution.
Reflecting on the success of the migration, Gaurav Sahni, Senior Vice President & Head of Broadcast Operations & Technology at Culver Max, praised the collaborative execution between Culver Max Entertainment’s operational expertise and Ideal Systems’ technical leadership. The result? A seamless integration that ensured Sony’s 24/7 operations continued without a hitch.
With this cutting-edge platform now live, Sony’s new Mumbai hub now powers over 50 channels, spanning sports, general entertainment, and international content. This milestone marks the dawn of a new era in broadcasting innovation, setting the stage for Sony’s continued leadership in content delivery across India and beyond.
