Sukma 2024 Live Broadcast

Ideal Systems played an important role in the success of broadcasting Sukma 2024, the Malaysian National Sports Games held from August 13 to 24 in Kuching, Sarawak. The Sukma Games is a biennial national multi-sport event involving young athletes from Malaysia's 13 states and 3 Federal Territories. TV Sarawak is a regional broadcaster responsible for providing comprehensive coverage of local and national events. For Sukma 2024, TVS required a robust multi-camera production system to make sure of high-quality live broadcast coverage of the sports games. Ideal Systems was honoured to be chosen to support this major sporting event by providing a comprehensive multi-camera production (MCP) kit, systems design and integration for TV Sarawak’s (TVS/SMG) sports studio.

The systems included professional broadcast camera systems allowing HD/UHD workflows supporting 12G-SDI, ST 2110 and NDI using  UHD/4K image sensor with support for simultaneous SDR and HDR as well as high speed scanning. The IP based Live production UHD switcher supports multiscreen and multiformat resolutions such as HD, UHD and 4K HDR images as well as various IP formats including ST 2110, NDI, SRT and even 12G SDI natively with unlimited MEs and layers for complex video composition highly suitable for sports production.  The switcher also provides control for UHD PTZ cameras that were also supplied. Other systems include camera wireless systems based on Teradeck Bolt 6, Steadicam stabilizer systems, as well as playback, Instant replay and slomo systems. Audio systems were designed using Dante audio featuring a Yamaha DM7C mixer console. All cabling, custom flight cases, patch panels, networking, wireless intercom and video routing systems were also provided for a comprehensive MCP solution.

Ideal Systems was given only one month to deliver and install the entire MCP system. Despite the tight schedule, Ideal Systems successfully met the deadline by leveraging efficient project management and streamlined installation processes.

The MCP system was fully operational in time for the event, TVS was able to broadcast live for 14 hours daily throughout the 2-week event, ensuring seamless live coverage and high-quality broadcast for the games.
