AL ARABY TV STUDIO
7,500SQM BROADCAST CENTER FOR THE FIFA WORLD CUP 2022
Ideal Systems deliver new Al Araby TV Studios in Doha, Qatar. The Al Araby TV facility, is housed within a new 7,500sqm broadcast center, which accommodates over 550 staff and consists of three visually stunning TV Studios, having over 500sqm of video wall between the studios for production of Al Araby TV News and Al Araby 2 (an entertainment channel). There facility is the first in the region to go with the latest SMPTE 2110 IP infrastructure.
The main news studio covers over 1,000sqm, extending the studio shooting floor into an open plan newsroom for over 100 staff, which creates a sweeping back drop, as the cameras pan’s across, studio floor, Video Walls and journalists’ workstations. The news studio is fitted with a Blackcam ceiling tracking camera, two floor robotic track cameras by Electric Friends, three Vitech robotic pedestals, a jimmy jib and Sony Cameras. Robotic systems have been deployed for the cameras, with Mo-Sys tracking integrated into each of them, all designed to enable the latest newsroom production requirements.
The entertainment studio set is built upon an Olympic-sized swimming pool which contains professional underwater broadcast-quality lighting from ARRI and Robe, and supports the TV station’s augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) requirements. The studio includes Qatar’s Largest Television Tracking Fine-Pitch LED walls from LianTronics. All studio windows have been replaced with video walls which can be dynamically recalibrated to replicate any visuals in up to 16K resolution.
Al Araby’s facility is the first major facility in the Middle East to be equipped with IP-based technology throughout. The AR/VR and video wall engines are IP SMPTE ST2110. The 2110 infrastructure supports Imagine SDNO and Sony LSM broadcast controller. Also in IP, the Audio systems from SSL, Riedel and Sennheiser use dante IP Protocol. The Studio’s are driven by the main CAR room and MCR Ideal Systems worked with many suppliers like Imagine Communications, Sony, Avid, Telestream, Spectre, Baton and Cisco, to bring together all the components required for a facility like this to be successfully launched.
