Network Device Interface (NDI) has become a leading standard for video productions, it has grown at an exponential rate over the last two years helping broadcasters and production companies overcome the difficulties presented during Covid-19 with new more efficient ways to do video production. Ideal have an increasing number of NDI system designs and use case situations and projects already built and delivered, details of which we will be sharing at the show. We are delighted to bring together some of our NDI partners at Broadcast Asia to showcase their technology and our solutions. We have brought in experts and equipment from BirdDog, SimplyLive, Telescript, KILOVIEW, NETGEAR, NewTek, SWIT, CAPELLA, SIENNA, TAG and AJA to our booth so we can discuss the benefits, flexibility, and possibilities of NDI for your broadcast, and production requirements.
For our cloud media solutions, we will be showcasing our own Alice Cloud Platform and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning solutions from Comcast Technology Solutions, AMPP Live production from Grass Valley and Cloud infrastructure from Sienna
On the booth, we will be doing a live demo using the BirdDog P4K NDI cameras and its patented controller software, Cam Control allowing easy access to all settings of all the BirdDog cameras on the network. Get the look you want on the full screen output monitor and then copy across multiple cameras to colour match in seconds. Together with Central Lite software, with any NDI® source, including all BirdDog hardware capable of creating NDI® sources, you can now drive your NDI® streams to any BirdDog Studio NDI or Mini to decode NDI® back to SDI or HDMI. And did we mention these are Free Software Tools? Yes, you heard it right!

Full NDI. No compromises. In the world of NDI® there are two flavours, NDI® and NDI|HX. NDI® is a variable bit rate, I-Frame codec that is reaches around 140Mbits at 1080p60 and is visually lossless. NDI|HX is a compressed, long-GOP, H.264 variant that reaches around 12Mbits at 1080p60. P4K is a Full NDI® camera. More than just a production PTZ. Shoot true cinematic styles. P4K is a PTZ designed for the most demanding live production shoots and supports all the traditional frame rates you would expect including 29.97 but now you can use your PTZ as a camera for TVC’s, drama, and shoot 24p for that wonderful cinematic look.
Advanced Colour Controls. With user selectable gamma settings and black gamma adjustment, fine tuning your shot has never been more flexible in a PTZ. Sony’s legendary sensor technology sets the tone for your next quality production.

Netgear recently announced its strategic collaboration with NDI providing further validation of the popular M4250 series switches. Engineered for newsrooms, production studios and other studio prompting situations, Telescript FPS Studio Systems are easy to set up, feature lightweight construction and are made of durable materials that will stand the test of time. SWIT Professional Monitors with NDI®
Our booth will demonstrate the world's first professional NDI® broadcast monitor. The monitors provide RJ45 port of high bandwidth NDI® up to 4K 2160p sources and lossless audio codec. In addition, the monitors support 3G-SDI input & loop out, 4K-HDMI 2.0 input, and NDI® source decoded to 3G-SDI output. The NDI®, SDI and HDMI sources can be PIP or PBP displayed simultaneously.
All NDI® sources will be auto detected when the monitor is connected to NDI® network, and quickly select NDI® sources from a list in monitor menu. The monitors support NDI® discover server to pull NDI® sources from different IP segments, and support NDI® low bandwidth mode as well.
Professional video tools supported includes waveforms, vector scopes, color gamut pattern, NDI® audio meters, tally signals display, false color, blue only, focus assist, zebra stripes, scale markers, user 3DLuts upload, and USB directly connect with X-rite i1 or Jeti Specbos 1211 probes to calibrated the monitors automatically, delta E < 1.0.

THE CLOUD – Artificial Intelligence – Machine Learning
One thing we all learned during Covid-19 is the importance of flexibility both in our workplace and in our underlying technologies. This was especially true for broadcast where the functionality offered by cloud-based systems especially for remote productions, and multi-location media workflows shined bright. Now we are embarking on the 2nd phase of cloud adoption by broadcasters, where phase one was moving systems as silo’s into the cloud like storage and archives. Stage 2 see entire multi system workflows moving into the cloud. To facilitate this Ideal have built Alice a cloud integration framework and workflow manager. On the booth we will be showcasing Alice along with some of our cloud solution partners such as Grass Valley, Sienna, Comcast Technology Solutions and Capella.
Ideal understand the future of broadcast is tied to the cloud and unlike many ‘cloud’ integrators we have a unique understanding of how to apply cloud architecture for enterprise media . In many cases a hybrid or staggered approach to cloud adoption is required. Agnostic to cloud service providers and vendor products Ideal can help our customers to adopt cloud technologies in a way that improves current operational efficiency both in terms of humans and technology.
At Broadcast Asia 2022, Ideal and TAG will demonstrate The TAG multiviewing tool probing and monitoring capabilities for both Cloud and NDI systems. The solution provides the operator with a simple and strong tool for error detection, alerting and multiviewing. It can receive, monitor and visualize all broadcast media formats like the 2110/2022-6 Uncompressed; compressed MPEG-TS; and OTT streams all the way down to the encoded video content and its quality. The created output mosaic/head is an HD or UHD video stream, encoded and transmitted as 2110-21 and standard H.264/H.265 SPTS also in Zixi protocol; along with an HLS parallel output – enabling remote multiviewing, mobile devices access and a flexible installation topology.
